Tell me your Story…

Tell me who is that singing because they are stretching my hope
Tell me who is that protesting because they have made my soap dirty
Tell me who is that laughing because they made the sun shine
Tell me who is that kissing because they have kicked off marriage time

And I will tell you a story about the football season because I found the emotional journal tied up with theological treason
And I will tell you a story about the war between grace and truth and all the loved ones who lose
And I will tell you a story about the fluff no longer blue and the riot of freedom surrounding you
And I will tell you a story about MC4 and the life shortened and the broke daughter

Tell me what is that budget in your hand and do you carry a case of understanding
Tell me what is that missile in your back pocket and do you have the bill written in sand
Tell me what is that theology you are using to prop up your house of glass
Tell me what is that picture of autumn offered on a summers day during mass

And I will show you a life silent and obscured holding gatherings for the poor
And I will show you a life spent picking up the rotten fruit and contemplating the sores
And I will show you a life drenched in grace and beauty and suffocating in hope
And I will show you a life that makes me scream prayers for the slum dwellers and disturbed financiers
And I will surrender once more and fall to the floor and try never to return the same.

Andy: A Dreamer Reflected In RBS Windows

The greatest movement of the brain I have ever found was Andy
He shared the floor of the RBS customer entrance footprints
He was their first customer and their last but he never went inside
I would pass him on my way home and in time I passed no more
But took my place upon his sacred floor.

It became the highlight of my day and the narrative of my night
Together we would share the journey past
And when broken by a customer I would consider whether anyone could actually be last
In our broken communion we reached into a stretched and solid expansion
Of what it means to be a brother and to lose but truly find another.
Then one quirky night my heart was poured out and laid bare before my reflection
In a new RBS window
Andy was no more but had been taken from his resting place to a place of rest
I stood and looked
I kept looking but our story was left under the feet of RBS customers
And to them and from them it has been carried
And will be forever more.
